Sanctuary at Christ Church Cathedral (CCC) is all of the above! A safe place, a place of shelter, of protection, and a source of advocacy for LGBTQ individuals.

Sanctuary at CCC is an interfaith coalition comprised of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Questioning (LGBTQ) Individuals and straight allies coming together to support individuals and families, advocating for LGBTQ rights, identifying and developing solutions to problems affecting the LGBTQ community of Central Indiana, and working together to rebuild the bridges between God and the LGBTQ community. A safe haven where LGBTQ individuals can ask questions like, "Does God still love me?" and "Is this wrong?"

Sanctuary is a place to come together to discuss these questions, even though we are a non-denominational group, the Episcopal answer to theses questions is, of course God loves you, he made you as his own, and no being lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered, or questioning is not evil. It is a beautiful part of who you are. We acknowledge that many LGBT people have been hurt gravely by Christianity. We affirm that sexual orientation is not a sin. We affirm that gender identity is not a sin. All are welcome in the Episcopal Church, without reservation.

Sanctuary is sponsored, hosted, and founded by Christ Church Cathedral Indianapolis, an Episcopal Church. Though the group is rooted in firm Christian values, that is, God's love for all of creation, and our call as Christians to share that love with everyone! We believe that Christ's resurrection was an act of compassion and mercy for all, including LGBTQ individuals. We believe we are created as LGBTQ individuals by God, in his likeness, and are uniquely created for his pleasure!

That said, all are invited to our table, Jew, Muslim, and the list goes on. This is not a time to discuss doctrine and dogma, rather an opportunity to come together as people to make the world a better place!

Through discussion, hard work, and inclusion we can make Central Indiana a better place to live!
